Pouvez-vous faire confiance aux gens pour se protéger eux-mêmes ou protéger les autres?
Il y a actuellement un débat dans de nombreux pays à travers le monde sur l’opportunité de rendre l’utilisation des masques faciaux obligatoire en tant que règle qui s’applique à tout le monde dans toutes les situations ou de laisser ce jugement à la discrétion des individus.Nous essayons d’expliquer ici en tant qu’êtres humains, nous ne sommes pas rationnels tout le temps et ne pouvons donc pas faire confiance pour nous protéger ou protéger les autres à tout moment et dans toutes les situations.
Il y’en a beaucoup de situations conflictuelles dans notre vie quotidienne avec des croyances et des hypothèses personnelles, des perceptions, des conflits d’intérêts, l’appétit pour le risque ou l’aversion pour le risque, les normes sociales dans certains
cultures, le syndrome du «juste une dernière fois», etc. nous empêchant de prendre les bonnes décisions à tout moment. Nous voyons cela tous les jours dans notre vie. Les gens vont-ils se conformer à la distanciation sociale quand il n’y a pas de marquage au sol dans les gares, devant les magasins, les pharmacies? Regardez ce qui se passe dans les espaces publics et vous avez la réponse. Les marques rappellent et poussent les gens à faire cela, au moins le point de départ.
C’était déjà le cas avant la pandémie. Tenons-nous toujours à notre résolution de fin d’année de perdre du poids ou de faire de l’exercice une heure par jour? Les gens arrêtent-ils de boire et de conduire malgré les dangers et les conséquences de le faire? Les gens arrêtent-ils de fumer lorsqu’ils savent que fumer est dangereux? Les accidents de santé et de sécurité surviennent tous les jours du non-respect des règles de base lorsqu’elles existent ou non. Au moins lorsque des règles existent, les gens sont obligés de les appliquer et lorsque l’absence de règles peut conduire à une catastrophe, cet écart devrait être comblé en temps opportun par les décideurs à tous les niveaux. Lorsque la vie des gens est en jeu, le temps presse et au lieu de perdre du temps à se demander si les gens devraient se voir confier l’utilisation des masques faciaux, leur utilisation – à une époque où aucun vaccin ou traitement accepté n’est disponible – devrait être rendue obligatoire pour tous et discussions devrait plutôt se concentrer sur la façon dont nous concevons les masques faciaux afin que chacun puisse les utiliser efficacement à tout moment pour protéger tous. Les conceptions de masques existantes conviennent-elles à l’usage? Devrions-nous concevoir des modèles spécifiques et rentables pour l’été, l’hiver afin que les gens puissent respirer normalement? Nous avons par exemple des vêtements de protection pour l’hiver, cela devrait donc être le cas également pour les masques de protection. Il est clairement prouvé dans les accidents passés que les personnes ne portent pas régulièrement les équipements de protection individuelle qui leur sont donnés lorsque ces EPI sont inconfortables, trop petits, chauds à l’intérieur etc. ou ne conviennent pas à l’usage et cela entraîne en retour des blessures.
Le psychologue primé et prix Nobel Daniel Kahnman a bien démontré que les gens ne sont pas des décideurs rationnels et de nombreux facteurs allant des besoins de base aux perceptions, notre point de départ, la précipitation pour faire quelque chose, les problèmes culturels affectent ce que nous faisons, comment nous acceptons et réagir aux situations.
Dans les usines, sur les routes, sur les chantiers, etc. nous avons des règles que les gens doivent respecter et il n’y a pas de discussion pour savoir s’il faut appliquer ou non ces règles. Si nous acceptons les règles sont là pour protéger tout le monde alors pourquoi laisser cela à certaines personnes et situations? Prendre de mauvaises décisions qui exposent les gens et / ou retardent leur protection. Historiquement, les entreprises ont obtenu de meilleures performances en matière de sécurité en se concentrant principalement sur une meilleure conception des équipements en s’appuyant sur eux pour protéger les utilisateurs. Ensuite, des systèmes de gestion ont été introduits avec un ensemble d’outils processus, règles etc… pour réduire davantage les taux d’accidents. Ensuite, ils ont travaillé sur la culture, les croyances et les valeurs de leur entreprise et les ont intégrés dans leurs façons de faire, d’exploiter leurs sites.
En substance, le but est d’influencer l’attitude des managers et des travailleurs puisque les attitudes déterminent le comportement, alignent et façonnent les attitudes et la perception des risques de chacun, en utilisant leur sens de la responsabilité collective et en se souciant les uns des autres pour réduire le taux d’accidents et protéger tout le monde sur le lieu de travail.
La prévention des incidents en matière de santé, de sécurité et d’environnement commence par une évaluation efficace des dangers liés aux projets, des travaux à effectuer et de leurs impacts potentiels, suivie de l’identification des bons et des contrôles adéquats en commençant par une conception et une sélection soigneuses des bons équipements, des mesures d’atténuation et surtout maintenir l’efficacité et la qualité des contrôles en place tout au long de la période d’exécution du projet.
Comment obtenir une évaluation des risques de qualité, meilleure, plus solide et plus efficace aujourd’hui avec moins de paperasse et d’expertise? Comment collectez-vous des données pendant l’exécution des projets sans envoyer de nombreux inspecteurs de sécurité sur le site? Votre personnel dispose-t-il des outils adéquats et adéquats pour prévenir la contamination croisée, des normes pertinentes et facilement disponibles pour faire un bon travail, désinfection de l’équipement?
Il est établi depuis longtemps par des experts en erreurs humaines dans tous les secteurs et dans toutes les situations que les gens réagissent à l’environnement et dans la prévention des incidents, l’accent doit être mis sur l’offre ou la création de l’environnement approprié et parfait pour commencer. L’utilisation d’un masque facial ne fait pas exception, des règles claires doivent être établies pour que chacun porte un masque pour se protéger et protéger les autres et c’est la responsabilité des décideurs. Les règles sans application ajoutent peu de valeur à la protection des personnes.
Il y a aussi ce débat sur la question de savoir si les masques doivent être utilisés à l’intérieur et aussi à l’extérieur. Personne ne peut vraiment anticiper les gens dans toutes les situations qu’il rencontrera lorsqu’il sortira pour se promener ou même dans une voiture où vous pourriez rencontrer quelqu’un qui demande de l’aide ou un contrôle de routine par la police ou les contrôleurs routiers. C’est aussi un signe pour l’utilisateur que quelque chose peut arriver et le rendre alerte et peut même aider à réduire la mauvaise habitude de toucher régulièrement les visages. De la même manière, la formation à la conduite défensive permet aux conducteurs de faire face à des situations dangereuses inattendues en adoptant les bons comportements sur la route et en anticipant une conduite mauvaise ou dangereuse pour les autres usagers de la route.
Le port de masques n’est pas la seule barrière de protection, mais il protège et protège contre les situations inattendues que vous pourriez rencontrer à l’intérieur et à l’extérieur. Nous avons tous la responsabilité de faire les bons choix pour nos services et pour les autres.
